In the months after Hurricane Katrina, an odd number of sharks have been seen in the Mississippi River. They're moving much farther up the river than they've ever been and in much larger numbers than they've ever been. Plus, there are many more species of sharks that are moving upstream in waters they normally would not venture into.
For the folks of the small town of River Bend, Missouri, their annual Halloween festival is just around the corner. Problem is, people who are fishing along the banks of the Mississippi are dying. Myteriously.
But an old fisherman by the name of Willard Jaekal thinks he knows what killing the fisherman. Sharks. In the Missouri leg of the Mississippi.
Willard Jaekal has been fishing the Mississippi for years. He's noticed that the fish have vanished and in their place are much bigger, much hungrier sharks. But no one will listen to him. Shark's can't be in the Mississippi, it's not salt water!
Jerry Scolfield is the first to believe Willard and enlists his help to try to make people understand that their river has turned deadly. No one will listen to him.
Catherine Scolfield is trying to make people believe her husband, but, is being ridiculed out of her social clubs. She tries to enlist her daughter's fiance to help.
Debbie Scolfield is skeptical until she witnesses a shark actually pull someone from a dock. Because of that she talks her fiance Mike in helping to rid the river of the toothy menaces.
Mike Watson gets on the river in a boat with Willard Jaekal and Jerry Scolfield. Together the three men battle maneaters large and small. Unfortunately, only one of them will survive.
